BUt I just wanted to share something else. This blog was a personal journal about me and what i do. Affiliatemarketing, business, wordpress and other ramblings that I thought would be fine to share.

I never optimized this blog to earn money. There was a time I had Google adsense on it and maybe I will do that again when I have a new layout for this blog but when I had the Adsense on it it was earning me something like $5 a month.

In january I stumbled at something called TNX I installed that code on this blog but after that never gone back to that site. I totally forgot about it. 2 weeks ago I saw the name again and I remembered that I had signed up for it. I went to the site and logged in. Big was my surprise to find that I had earned $80 with them in the last month . I upped the number of links and the income from them is now above the $200.

If you look at the income of most bloggers a lot of it is private ads and link sales and now I understand why. If you haven’t signed up for TNX I can highly recommand it

It’s almost 2 months ago I created a software tool to import products from CJ.com into wordpress. I created some sample sites at

• kayak shop
• Golf Bags shop
• Wakeboard shop

The main reason why I used wordpress as a backend is because i like the way it’s structured. The tool lets you search in the catalog of all products listed by merchants that are joined at cj.com. That’s about 60 million (yes that’s million) products. With it you can make a lot of targeted niche sites that do well in the seach engines (as it’s wordpress based) and with the right themes it looks noting like a blog.

I have been bussy with some bugs that were in it and most should be ok now. Some minnor issues with the latest version of WP 2.5.1 but all should function

I need some time to create more sample sites but i do want to do that as the main reason for me building this tool was to make sites myself but now it’s so time consuming with customers asking questions that i haven’t had much time to use it myself.

I have restored almost all posts with the help of msn and the waybackmachine http://web.archive.org. I need to upload the templates I made and the images so those can be unavaiable for a day or two.

Backup backup backup…. I know and should do it but if I ask you …when was the latest backup of all your work?

Two years ago my computer crashed and all my work was gone. That computer was the one I used for my business and all pending orders, images, and emails were on it. I did have the habit of printing every order so i did had most of the emailadresses of customers. After that I promised myself to make a regular backup and so i did …for a couple of months

3 weeks ago I went away for a trip of 2 weeks. Before it I had a lot of work with the mug priniting business plus I released the software of ABB (affiliateblogbuilder.com ) …it was hectic. I also cleaned house with hosting and got rid of several hostingaccounts and a dedicated server and switch almost everything to hostgator.  I made several mistakes … 1. I DIDN’T backed up 2. I thought I downloaded everything and when i uploaded it to the new server I assumed all was the same as it was on the old servers 3. I didn’t checked everything (nameservers, files etcetc)

STUPID …what happend was first during my 2 weeks I had no access to the internet. Second I forgot to download and upload this domain so all posts were gone . I will use http://web.archive.org to get some things back but I guess some posts will be lost forever. But the worst thing was that at affiliateblogbuilder.com some files weren’t uploaded which caused new customers with an error and as I was away and not aware of the problem I got some nice(not) comments of several forums.

So the lesson learned : Backup everything and never try to cramp things in a few days just before a holiday or trip…you will make faults which will hurt you.

At the end of October I build 45 sites real fast using a script and took one of them as a casestudy. My goal was getting $2 a day for that site within 30 days. But because of my “normal” business I had a major lack of time and didn’t spend the time I had in mind for it.

At this moment it has been 2 months after building the sites and the total time spend on promoting the batch of sites is no more then 10 hours.

Was it profitable? well …..

Adsense income to date with these 45 : $492

Affiliate income: $62

The income in November was $130 and in december it was $237 and for Januari it’s already $114 so it looks like it will end around $300

I haven’t done everything I wanted to do and in the coming days I will promote individual sites more as some are performing less then others.

Overall I think i can’t complain. The registration of the domain was $1.99 and I have them hosted on accounts I already had. So i well covered the costs and renewing fees are also justified so these sites are well worth it. They will not be $2 a day sites but rather $0.50 - $2 and i am ok with it.

Next project…upscale this

I mentioned it several times that my normal business is printing mugs and I am making 70-80% of my income in the months september - december. Bizzy time is over..which feels strange btw..and now it is time to expand my affiliate projects.

Until January 20th dotster and mydomain.com have a special deal for .info domainnames. It will cost you $0.99 to register a domainname. Yesterday and today i took time to plan my actions and I got an insane idea to build at least 10 sites a day using the model I have. The plan is to have a 1000 new sites before the end of April 2008.

The total of 45 sites that the casestudy site belongs to are doing ok. Yesterday the total income from those 45 was $20.19. In the 20 days till now the casestudy site made a bit over $10. Not the $2 a day but i have good hopes for this niche as the $20 from ysterday came actually of 11 sites that were indexed by Google. I just need a bit more time and buiild links to the sites. Funny thing is tho that I never really made these sites with the intention to earn the majority of the income from Adsense. I made them around affiliateproducts and thought it would be doing good with that…till today however i haven’t made any affiliate sale with these sites.

But time is something I do not have. My mugprinting business is never been so bussy. We know that the months October till December are bussy but this time it’s almost double as bussy as last year around this time. We made well over 7000 mugs in 3 weeks and wrok from 7:30 till 22:00 without a real brake. Me and my wife are real tired but we know this bissyness keeps untill about the week before X-mas. After that it’s time to relax and time to do what i wanted to do

I opened adsense today to find a surprise. The casestudy site is at $2.79 today. It had 25 visitors of which most came from Google.
Yesterday it ended at $1.22. This is great and i still need to do some promotion i had planned but didn’t came too

The day for Adsense is not finished and i am halfway the daily goal. The CTR is way above average and even tho i had only 11 people visit the site today it earned me $0.99. The biggest one till now as yesterday it was only $0.15
To be honest I haven’t done what i set out to do for this last days because i was to bussy with my normal business - the mug printing

Google has sent me 16 unique visitors and Yahoo 1. That is with only 4 pages indexed and as i said earlier this site has a few thousand pages.

4 other sites from the 45 are also earning money now. So i got good hopes on it.

Ok..there is a little gap but in the meanwhile i didn’t do anything with the site. I stumbled it and the first day it brought me 92 visits. The days after that the visits dried up. But yesterday something important happend…Google indexed the site and sebd me the first real search visitor.

Yesterday was also the first day this site made money. $0.41 It’s not much but it shows that this site does have potential. I had 2 views of adsense ads and 3 clicks which brought in this $0.41 Not bad….but i always get a creepy feeling when i get a 100%+ clicks. This happens when 1 person on your site clicks more then 1 adsense ad. If your visitor count is low it will result in a Page CTR of more then 100%. I am sure this triggers some sort of alarm at Google if it happens to often. I hope to get the visits up soon when more pages are indexed and this happens not that much.

But the CTR on the sites i made with the same template is high. It looks a bit like thisgoogle.jpg
I used a big rectangle and no borders(in the image only for making clear where the ad is). colors of the link changed to the colors of my site and the text and url the same as the text. The bottom part of ads by google is below the fold when you use 800px screen. Of course it depends also on how many toolbars you use but on most it’s below the fold. And as Google displays relevant ads to the content it looks like a part of the site.
The CTR is above 20% but that is up to now and as i didn’t had a large number of visitors on these sites the numbers can change.

Tasks for the comming days will be collecting more inbound links. I’ll be looking for blogs that allow comments with no “no-follow” and are about the topic of my site and maybe write a press release. Never done that but heared it can give great results

Ok…yesterday i did some promotion on the site. I created 2 ads on USfreeads, bookmarked the site using onlywire.com and stumbled the site.

I had 92 visitors yesterday to this site. Mostly from stumbleupon. Also 4 people came thru my ads on USfreeads.

My main reason tho of posting on usfreeads and stumbleing it is to get Google and the other searchengines in. I haven’t seen the Googlebot but Yahooslurp has found the site and i hope it will revisit it today.

I haven’t made any money on this site yesterday but that is something i expect to happen at the end of this week or starting next week. Getting people from stumble upon is great to get things going but moneywise they are not buyers ..more surfers
