As you might have seen I developed the plugin called ABB to make affiliate comparison sites real fast. In the comming weeks I will make several sites using this plugin and use them as a casestudy. To be more precise I will build as much as I can in a span of 30 days starting today. I will use domainnames I already own and are sitting on the shelf and I will register new domainnames. The idea is to show you what you can do if you focus on building sites using the plugin and what kind of results it will bring.

These sites below I already made and will also be added to the casestudy.

GPS Watches
GPS Watches is a site about watches with GPS. They are used by people that love to run or enjoy outdoor activaties like hiking and camping. Most of the watches have a feture to conect to a pc so you can watch your perfermance

Hammock with Stand
If you have a garden without any trees or other ways to attach a hammock, a hammock with a stand is an ideal solution.

Waterproof Running Shoes
This site is also for the running enthousiast. If you are serious in running it will mean that at some times you will have to endure the elements. And nothing is as unpleasant as running in shoes that became wet. I know because I try to run at least 2 times a week …rain or shine.

Tents for Kids
There are two types of tents for kids…the first are the playtents for indoors or the garden and the other onces are the tents that you use for camping. This site is about both of them.

Rooftop Cargo Carrier
When you are going to camp and take your family in the car it will often happen that you whished you had more room A rooftop cargo box is a usefull solution

Besides the building part I will also promote them in the 30 days. None of these sites are heavily promoted yet and all I did was submit the rss feed. Some already have a ranking and last wekend I got 3 sales from the rooftop cargo site. I will add that to the list

The thing that I have learned the most from the past building blast is that Amazon is converting like crazy and CJ.com and Linkshare don’t do a thing for me. All the income is from Amazon and altho on several site merchants like Buy.com or Shop.com are having the same product for a cheaper price I see people still buy at Amazon. On some sites I see in my report 10 clicks and 1 item ordered. My best site has had 35 clicks and had 5 items ordered. I am shocked at those conversions.

But the numbers are low so I don’t want to put definiative conclusions to it but it strickes me as odd. My instinct says that people want to see comparisons but if the differnce in price is low they still will go with Amazon as that is what they know, trust and rely on.

ABB will be back and it’s getting better then ever before

In April last year I created a tool called Affiliate Blog Builder (ABB) which imports products from CJ.com into wordpress. It worked good until WP 2.5. What I intended to build was what I had named project WP Octopus. It would be a tool to build affiliatesites that would have comparisontables, reviews, images, questions & answers and would work not just with CJ.com but also with Linkshare, Amazon, ShareASale, Tradedoubler and many others. ABB as I sold it then was the first step. But until 5 months ago I never had the time to develop it futher and make it up to date to work with wp 2.7. That was until January….as you might have read I went away in December 2008 and when we got back in January I made a drastic change in our company. I wanted to be 100% internet related and not depending on product of actual products. I created the prebuild sites and templates in mentioned before just to keep the cash flow comming as I knew I wanted to bring ABB back to live and finally make the product I intended all along.  In the mean while I had been working on ABB. The last 3 months it’s been almost daily and during my visit to Suriname (the country my wife comes from) I took the laptop with me and wrote a lot of code. ….the result…. :)  the new ABB is in Beta now I think it’s the ulimate tool to build affiliate sites around actual products. It has a ton of features that I always looked for myself but never found. Just to name a few…

I don’t know why but I always scedule major things just before I leave. Or is it that the pressure of only having a few hours left before I can finish something makes me more productive

I am leaving tomorrow for a visit to the counttry where my wife is born, Suriname. We are going there for 4 weeks and I am taking my laptp with me but I am not sure about the wifi access or internetcafe’s there. So I assume I will be only online every couple of days.

An other thing I am trying to finish before we leave is a standalone version of my eBay plugin for Wordpress. I got a lot of people asking for it as they want the plugin but not the template. It would be easy to just pull it out of that package and offer it like that but I was writing some code and had some ideas to incooperate in it. So I have a bit less then 24 hours to see if I can add that f not it will be an upgrade. One thing I do know is that I want to offer it for free for 3 days so you can try it and only if you like it you would have to pay for it. An offer you can’t refuse I assume

The other project that kept me bussy the last weeks is my new main site http://xlshopping.nl This is monsterious. I got datafeeds from about 900 online dutch shops that will feed this site. We (my wife and I ) are about half way of mapping the right categories to each other and a lot of code is ready. It’s a site I am real proud of and got high hopes for. It was never my intention but it looks like it’s going to be one of the largest comparison sites in the Netherlands.

Just a small note…..I have been realy busy the last weeks with the affiliate review template for wordpress that is available at http://wpnichetemplates.com It’s idea is based upon the Conduit method of Chris Rempel and I try to go for an authority kind of feel and look. I started this template mostly for myself but in the end I decided to offer for sale at warriorforum and some other forums I am a member of and it was a bit of a succes.

That also ment that I didn’t spend as much time on building sites as I wanted too.

I am creating some scripts to help me build sites faster and those will hopefully help me this month to reach my goal after all. Because building sites is still the most profitable income stream I have. I just wished I would have access to shopping.com API program as I am ove my ears into xml and api’s now and love the things that can be done with it. Maybe I will bring ABB back to live with some improvements and additions that I had been planning for over a year now…

Ok…2009 is here and as many I also have set my goals. Goalsetting is very important but keeping to a scedule is even more.

The months January and February are always slow for my business so I made the decision to build at least one minisite a day but am going for 2 a day. I say minisite but I have to be a bit more specific. I am going to build sites inspired at infoproductkiller

Without going into much detail the sites are extremly focused on 1 product. Using organic searchengine rankings these sites should get some nice placements in Google, MSN etc. I am going to use the dutch market and select products that sell for more then 250 euro ($300). Using that strategy I should easily find a 100+ products which is the number of sites I want to have finished at the end of February.

I just finished the first site which is about the Ninetendo Wii (great gamecosule btw and I am planning to buy one as I like the Wii Fit game) it’s at wii kopen

Using the same idea I will build these affiliatesites. If each will make a sale a month I am more then happy. Will keep it updated this time and tell how much sites I have build and the results

My strategy untill recent was building small webstes around a small niche. But lately I started to think it might be a good idea to start a few large authority sites. I registered 7 domains in the field of money, health, law, travel, electronics, business and gadgets. Each will be a portal kind of site with lots of categories. The first I started to work on was the money site at http://moneyfied.com I just added 3 posts there. One about the current credit criss, buying stock in the bear market and one I like is called warren buffet quotes
The main reason why i shifted from small sites to large is the abilty to build backlinks to one point that will spread out over the whole site. With a lot of small site your attention is to much all over the place that it’s easy to stop doing all the things you would like to do in promoting a website.

But I do not say I will stop building small sites as that is a profitable way also but I will shift my focus more on the large sites.

Brian the author of the revolution themes made an announcement that I didn’t saw coming. He pulles all his themes of the market starting November 1st 2008.

So if you want to buy any revolution theme this is the moment.

He will start to make new themes that will be licenced under the GPL butto protect the integraty of the current premium themes he will no longer be offering those. His reason for doing this is that he feeld he owes the Wordpress community his whole business and the opportunity to leave his job. So as a thank you he will start to create free themes. Nice thoughts and completely in spirit of the open source community.

The creators of PLRpro have been working on something new. They created a network of sites where you can submit your article without any problems. It’s called ArticleMarketingAutomation

What does it do?
Normally when you write an article you submit it to an articledirectory and wait till it’s approved. That could take a week or even much longer. When you submit the article in differnt versions (manually spun or rewritten) then you will either need to pay someone to submit it to 100,200 or even 300 articledirectories or you will need some sort of software.

I think this is one of the must have tools for any internet marketeer. It makes building backlinks to your sites so much easier.

I decided to make a series of small reports dedicated to the newbies online. It will deal with things like setting up a site, blog, editing html, hosting, domainnames etc etc.

All in a step by step guide way with maybe video to make it all even more clear.
