ABB Website Casestudies

As you might have seen I developed the plugin called ABB to make affiliate comparison sites real fast. In the comming weeks I will make several sites using this plugin and use them as a casestudy. To be more precise I will build as much as I can in a span of 30 days starting today. I will use domainnames I already own and are sitting on the shelf and I will register new domainnames. The idea is to show you what you can do if you focus on building sites using the plugin and what kind of results it will bring.

These sites below I already made and will also be added to the casestudy.

GPS Watches
GPS Watches is a site about watches with GPS. They are used by people that love to run or enjoy outdoor activaties like hiking and camping. Most of the watches have a feture to conect to a pc so you can watch your perfermance

Hammock with Stand
If you have a garden without any trees or other ways to attach a hammock, a hammock with a stand is an ideal solution.

Waterproof Running Shoes
This site is also for the running enthousiast. If you are serious in running it will mean that at some times you will have to endure the elements. And nothing is as unpleasant as running in shoes that became wet. I know because I try to run at least 2 times a week …rain or shine.

Tents for Kids
There are two types of tents for kids…the first are the playtents for indoors or the garden and the other onces are the tents that you use for camping. This site is about both of them.

Rooftop Cargo Carrier
When you are going to camp and take your family in the car it will often happen that you whished you had more room :) A rooftop cargo box is a usefull solution

Besides the building part I will also promote them in the 30 days. None of these sites are heavily promoted yet and all I did was submit the rss feed. Some already have a ranking and last wekend I got 3 sales from the rooftop cargo site. I will add that to the list

Sites build: 5
Time spend sofar : 5 hours
Earnings : $13

Update 27 July
sites build : 29
Time spend sofar : 25 hours
Earnings : $31.20

Update 16 August
sites build : 35
Time spend sofar : 40 hours
Earnings : $105.81

The thing that I have learned the most from the past building blast is that Amazon is converting like crazy and CJ.com and Linkshare don’t do a thing for me. All the income is from Amazon and altho on several site merchants like Buy.com or Shop.com are having the same product for a cheaper price I see people still buy at Amazon. On some sites I see in my report 10 clicks and 1 item ordered. My best site has had 35 clicks and had 5 items ordered. I am shocked at those conversions.

But the numbers are low so I don’t want to put definiative conclusions to it but it strickes me as odd. My instinct says that people want to see comparisons but if the differnce in price is low they still will go with Amazon as that is what they know, trust and rely on.

Edwin,

I’ve been looking for a WP management alternative to the cPanel layout, and finally found a few that are promising. None of them have ALL the features I’m looking for, but when I found your site while doing my research, I thought I would comment on them and get your opinions.

First up was one you’ve mentioned before – FirePow. It’s now in version 2, has some updated features, including content auto posting, some plugins to manage SEO, linking structure, and limited auto promotion of the WP blogs it creates. Yes, it is a single interface for multiple installs and management of WP sites, but there are a LOT of things I would change about it.

BAD STUFF: Limited templates, and I can’t import my SemioLogic Pro as the base for the WP installs, the content selection is still somewhat limited, it cost’s $127 a month, and it’s hosted on the FirePow site, so if you leave their service, you loose the single interface aspect that I want so much to maintain.

GOOD STUFF: Comes with some decent traffic getting plugins, and has a somewhat easy way to load in new ones. Content management and future posts available.

There’s another interesting prospect – WPMangerDX . It also is a single interface install and manage script, but it is installed on your own hosting site, has singular interface control for the install, updating of WP, importing – selection – and activation of plugins and themes, multiple project control and multiple installs in one go….

There’s a companion script, sold seperately, called ArticleManagerDX that seems like it would be good addition on the content side. Features taken from the site:

* Login to one location and create as many article blog projects, upload articles, save them and have them posted automatically for you.

* Upload all the articles you want to post with pre-defined fields set ONE time and have that information put in for all the articles you upload without doing it yourself for each article.

* Enter your keyword and description preference for each blog project only once and have all your articles for that specific blog include the keyword and description tag each time the article is posted.

* Easily enter the time frame you want your articles to be published. Easily choose one or more categories you want your article to appeared on. Easily enter your article’s excerpt if your blog is setup to offer only summary posts.

Additionally, there are some plugins that are very favorable to sites I like to build – WPRobot comes to mind immediately, as it can pull content from Amazon, ClickBank, eBay, YouTube, article sites, Yahoo Answers, and has a translation module to exchange languages if you wish. Easy way to monetize your sites, AND get content for it in one go. Uses keywords to define the parameters it searches for in terms of affiliate products and content.

Then there’s the OnlyWire plugin – that posts your blogs to the bookmarking sites on autopilot, every time there’s a new post. You have to manually set up the BM accounts to begin with, but once done, it’s fairly easy to create BM backlinks.

Ideally, you would have one interface that would allow you to integrate ALL of these functions into your WP sites – so , you start a new project; give the software some keywords; affiliate ID’s for whatever products/services you’re selling; import the graphics, articles, and email addy for your autoresponder series or news letter; Check for/load the latest WP verison; Import and activate themes and plugins; set up the current and future posting of content allready in place; Add links to your Privacy, CopyRight, Contact Me, and Terms of Use pages; a few other things I can think of that I’d like to see too.

Guess I can’t really complain too much, I mean all of it is available thru multiple programs, plugins, and/or software packages – it would just be nice to integrate all of this into one simple interface.

Success !!

Darell,

You are describing my dream tool :) This is what I envision ABB would look like in the future. It’s even the start of ABB but I stripped it down along the way but when I started programming ABB it had the name WP Octopus as I wanted to do all those things like you describe. http://wpoctopus.com is still there.

You are right there are plugins and programs that do parts but you still need to tye them together.

What I am missing in your wishlist :)
Stats
Income reports from all networks/adsense/paypal etc at one place
Automatic adding domains to cpanel
Progress reports on SEO rankings
Task manager so you know if work needs to be done on a site

So what I had always in mind for ABB is all the parts you are touching plus what I mention here above. I know I am behind with a lot of things and I can’t give a timeline on when ABB will be having all this but for instance I already have build that income report part and the stats part in a simple way.
